“Z’ul, wake up…” It felt the steady and insistent psychic nudge.

The quiet, meditative essence that is Z’ul slowly became aware of the voice that prompted it out of its astral slumber. As it’s consciousness refocused on the surroundings, Z’ul felt the collective presence of the gods.

“Unusual,” Z’ul thought. It was unlike the any of the gods to wake a servant in contemplation of the previous life, much as a whole. Perhaps they were unaware?

“Masters, I was still in the midst…” “We know, Z’ul. Circumstances require you to awaken again, earlier than anticipated,” they intoned.

“As you wish,” Z’ul reverently commented.

Z’ul knew better than to pepper this assembly with questions. They would convey only what was necessary, and no more. It waited for the gods to speak.

Erathis was the first. “Z’ul, my laws have been transgressed. You must help restore what was taken away,” she said. As if to emphasize her words, Bahamut's face only gleamed a subtle, yet seething anger. He only added, “Do what must be done.”

Z’ul thought to itself. “In my last life, I was a woman named Zemeth Z’ul. For some reason, my memory of this iteration is dim. I barely recall my own death. I only remember the pain.” Ioun answered its thoughts. “The death of Zemeth is connected to the reason we are asking you to return to Nerath. You need not meditate here any longer on that life, for there are no answers here. All your answers exist back in the material world.”

“Where should I begin?” Z’ul asked.

Corellon said, “Return to the grove from which you normally emerge. You will find that it has been decimated.”

“I see.” “Perhaps a man this time?” Z’ul thought. There was still one remaining problem, however. “But what name should I choose? I have not completed my meditations on my last life as Zemeth to find the name of the next.”

“Shama,” Erathis said, more an order than a suggestion. “We have already gathered your companions. Join them now. Do not fail me, Shama Z’ul.”

“Shama?” Z’ul thought to itself. “The name means ‘to pacify.’ I wonder what that portends? No matter. I shall return now to the realm of mortals as Shama Z’ul.”
